Sriyan de Silva Wijeyeratne, Country Manager for Microsoft in Sri Lanka, has been appointed Leader for the Consumer Channels Group (CCG) for New Markets in the South East Asia region. In addition to his role as Country Manager for Sri Lanka, Mr Wijeyeratne will focus primarily on the SEA New Markets' OEM business (Original Equipment Manufacturer) for PCs, and the Windows Mobile Phone, the innovative newcomer to the Microsoft product portfolio. He will support all retail execution across Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and the Maldives, the statement said..

"Sriyan has demonstrated success in leading his team in Sri Lanka. He has consistently driven his local OEM Business to great heights, and worked well with retailers, local and MNA partners," said Jamie Harper, General Manager for Microsoft South East Asia New Markets.

Mr Wijeyeratne said he was looking forward to the new challenge of leading the Consumer Channel Group. "The prospect of being part of Microsoft's new mobile phone business in partnership with companies like Nokia, would be particularly exciting since it is a completely novel area for Microsoft," he added.
