‘Vinaya Arakshaka’: Military Police Concert

‘Vinaya Arakshaka’, a variety entertainment programme performed by the Military Police Corps, will be telecast on ITN on Thursday, 12 January at 10.00pm till midnight.‘Vinaya Arakshaka’ concert was held at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapakesa Theatre on 28 December.

This variety entertainment show featured a number of talented personnels from the Military Police in singing, dancing, musical performances, acting acrobatic and martial art items. ‘Vinaya Arakshaka Concert’ was organized by Colonel Kamal Fonseka of Military Police under the direction of Major General E. K. J. K. Wijayasiri. Army Chief Lt. General Jagath Jayasuriya participated as the Chief Guest at the Concert at the Lotus Pond along with several distinguish artistes and military personalities.
Prior to the Colombo performances, ‘Vinaya Arakshaka Concert’ was staged in Panagoda Army Camp, Polonnaruwa Bhuddhi Mandapa and Weerasingham Hall in Jaffna.

‘This is a unique opportunity for the members of Military Police Corps. The in born talents were deprived during the bloody war for the past three decades.

But an artistic side of the uniform was identified later and was given a chance to come out with hidden talents. I am thrilled to see many with singing, dancing, and musical talents. Apart from that there are few people with unique abilities in different fields, Martial arts, extra ordinary sporting abilities were shown at this concert’ explained Colonel Fonseka.

He said, the Concert will be staged island wide during this year and hoping to add may more variety to the show.

‘Vinaya Arakshaka Concert’ was choreographed by veteran dancer Rajini Selvanayagam and was directed by Amiththa Weerasinghe.
