Madushanka double helps STC Matale

An all-round performance by skipper and Sri Lanka Youth cricketer Lahiru Madushanka, who stroked an elegant 143 inclusive of 18 boundaries and 6 sixes and then followed it up with a match bag of 6 for 70 (4 for 62 and 2 for 08) helped St. Thomas’ Matale to beat St. Sebastian’s College Katuneriya outright by an innings and 70 runs in their SLSCA Under 19 Inter-School cricket fixture at Katuneriya last week.
Electing to bat first St. Thomas’ declared their innings at 330 for 7 with L.D. Madushanka top scoring with 143 and half tons each from N.J. Kennedy (51) and A.S. Wijegunawardhana (50).

In reply St. Sebastian’s made 166 all out with Lahiru Madushanka capturing 4 for 62 and T. Udupihilla taking 3 wickets for 36. Made to follow on St. Sebastians were bowled out for 94 in 36 overs. T. Wijewansa and S.N. Wijetunga bowled well to capture 4 for 31 and 3 for 41 respectively.

St. Sebastian’s Katuneriya 166 all out in 45.2 overs (N.Janapriya 27, P. Lakshan 37, L.D. Madushanka 4 for 62,T. Udupihilla 3 for 36) and 94 all out in 36 overs (T. Lakshan 24, Lahiru Madushanka 4 for 62, T. Wijewansa 4 for 31, S.N. Wijetunga 3 for 41)
