U-13 school cricket not yet completed for 2011

By P D de Silva

The under 13 cricket tournament for 2011 has not been completed as yet. Matches from the pre quarter finals onwards in division one and two has to be played while the second round of division three has not been worked off as yet.

The Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association (SLSCA) who conducts this tournament were not concerned about the year end examinations of the players when they planned the dates for the 2011 tournament. The second round matches of the division one and two tournaments had to be completed on the eve of the 3rd term tests. Players had to face stiff opposition from parents to attend practice sessions and matches neglecting their preparations for the examinations and the wrath of the coach if practices were missed even losing their place in the team at times.

The SLSCA should reschedule their under 15, 17 tournaments so that the under 13 tournament can end before November every year.
