St. Anthony’s down Rajans

The Anthonians dominated and then defeated the Rajans convincingly by six wickets to post their first outright win of the season. The match was played at Katugastota.
Replying to the Rajan score of 154, the home team batted well down the order to take a 74 run lead. Skipper Ranaraja led from the front to top score with 49. Seamer Karunaratne and left arm Vithanarachchi bagged 4 apiece.

Second time round, the Rajans were bowled out for 136. Off spinner Nimesha Gunasinghe (5 for 24)lured them to destruction.
The target was 63 in 14 overs, but the Anthonians did in 11 overs.
Sadun Weerakkodi (66 and27) stood out for the lads from Lake View.
Dharmaraja 154 in 53 overs (S.Weerakkodi 66, V. Kaaraputugala 24, S.Gunasekera 31; S. Rajaguru 3 for 17, N. Gunasinghe 2 for 11, B. Wijetunga 2 for 5) and 136 in 42.5 overs (V. Karaputugoda 29, S. Weerakkodi 27, N. Karunaratne 37 n.o; N. Gunasinghe 5 for 24, S. Rajaguru 2 for 26, B. Wijetunga 2 for 25).

Kingswood on top
Kingswood looks set to complete their first outright win of the season as they established a significant lead of 90 over P. de.S. Kularatne, Ambalangoda in their tournament game at the Police grounds.
154 for 9 at one stage, Kingswood recovered to 221 thanks to a last ditch stand of 67 between Nuwan Unambuwe (41 with 8 sixes) and Menaka Lankatilleke. Medium pacie Kumudu Nishan bowled well for his four wickets.

Maduranga and Eranga offered some resistence to the home team with knocks of 35 and 39 respectively. Leg spinner Nuwan Unambuwe (4 for 11) in tandem with Menaka Lankatilleke and Prabath Jayawickrema shared the spoils.

Batting again, Kingswood ended day one on 10 for 1.
