The Zahira Old Boys’ Rugby Association – ZOBRA, a faction consisting former rugby players of Zahira College Colombo, conducted its inaugural Rugby Night at the College Ghaffoor Hall recently. The event was attended by members of the Board of Governors, the Principal, parents, students, past rugby players and well wishers of the school. During the ceremony players of ZOBRA Rugby Nursery (ZRN) and the school’s Under-12 were recognized for their performances.

Many adoptions taken from the rugby traditions of New Zealand where the sport is treated as a cult were displayed by the young players attached to the ZRN. The ZOBRA also made use of the event to launch their official website as well as to formally hand over playing jerseys for the rugby teams of Zahira to be used for the upcoming schools rugby season. Young Shazlik Nizar was adjudged the ZRN best player of 2011 and he was presented with a memento. The Executive Committee of ZOBRA posed for an official photograph after the event.
