Regent wins Gampaha “Brother’s Quarrel”


The victorious Regent cricketers with the Sri Lanka Telecom Brother’s Quarrel trophy.

The inaugural limited overs big match between Regent International School and Lyceum International took place at the Bandaranayake College ground in Gampaha recently. The “Brothers’ Quarrel” as it was nicknamed was won by Regent International who recorded a thrilling 17-run win against Lyceum.

Lyceum after winning the toss elected to field and restricted their opponents to 154 runs in 30.3 overs. Dinuka Subasinghe top scored for Regent International with a timely 48 runs. Chathushka Colambage who maintained a decent pace captured four scalps conceading 16 runs. However Lyceum, chasing a decent target were skittled out for 137 in 26.2 overs succumbing themselves to an unexpected defeat in the inaugural encounter. Ashraf Mohamed of Lyceum was awarded as the best batsman.

Regent’s Dominic Wijewickrama, skipper Supun Rajasooriya and Shanaka Fernando won the awards for the best bowler, best fielder and man-of-the-match respectively.
