Battle of the DJ’s
View(s):‘The Battle of the DJs’, a DJ competition organized by the ‘World Music Entertainment’ will come alive at the Lumbini Theater, Colombo 5 on Friday, 6th July starting from 6.30pm.�Eight unique and talented DJs will be on stage spinning their discs on Friday night at this competition. These DJ were selected in preliminary round and the final eight will be battling for the top title of the night.
‘Battle of the DJs’ will be a reality concert. This differs from the typical concert theme due to many reasons.
‘There will be a winner at the end of the night and the winner will be chosen by the audience. There will be drama, suspense, adventure which we deliver through our contestants’ said Nalaka Malinda Perera, the Chairman of the ‘World Music Entertainment’, the organizing body of the ‘Battle of the DJs.

There will be great performances, drama, suspense and adventure guaranteed. The audience gets the opportunity to vote for their favourite DJ and help them to climb up the WME Superstar ladder to clinch the WME DJ Championship title.
‘There is a voting card in the souvenir issued at the entrance. After each round our officials will be collecting votes from the audience. The DJ with the highest number of votes at each round will be advanced to the next round. The most popular DJ of the night will win the first ever WME DJ Championship’ Malinda explained the Judging procedure.
‘DJs will be able to challenge another DJ, attack another DJ verbally, interact with the audience and so on which will be included in their script. This way the audience will have a unique experience’ he added.
‘The winner of the night will have to battle the runner up at the next event in order to keep his championship. Other contestants will have to prove their talent and climb the ‘WME Superstar’ ladder to be able to challenge the WME DJ CHAMPION some day. Therefore there will never be a “fixed” winner for long. According to their talent and popularity the Championship may change hands frequently. We can safely say that this has never been done before locally or globally.
We believe that this concept is unique and will capture the hearts of many’ he explained.
World Music Entertainment is a company inaugurated in 2009. Two Peterites, Nalaka Malinda Perera and Nikhila Ranasinghe started the company with the aim of revolutionizing the music industry in Sri Lanka. Now after three years the company is owned solely by the Perera family.
The company’s first project was ‘Battle of the Bands’ back in 2009 which was at Bishop’s College Auditorium.

The three member Production Team comprises Ayeshmantha Lahiru (Event Manager / Creative Writer), Nisal Sutheekshana (Sound Engineer) and Jason De Silva (Graphic Designer)
WME hopes to take their show on the road. After a several episodes in Colombo they will be travelling with their show to Kandy and Galle.
