Lankan sides make strides at EFLI
View(s):The Colombo Lions and the Kandy Skykings, proved Sri Lanka’s potential for success at American Football when they each marched to victories over the Mumbai Gladiators and the Kolkata Vipers respectively, during action in the Sri Lankan leg of the Elite Football League of India (EFLI), at the Sugathadasa Stadium last week.
Matters were relatively uncomplicated for the Skykings as they vanquished the Vipers with an imperious 13-0 victory. However, the keenly anticipated debut of the Lions proved to be a lot less straightforward, as they had to battle hard to secure their 12-7 win over the Gladiators.
In other action, the Bangalore Warhawks registered their first win of the tournament when they steamrolled the Pakistan Wolfpack by 26 points to 6, while the Pune Marathas enjoyed an equally emphatic 31-7 win over the Delhi Defenders.
The league tournament began on July 25 and will continue until August 25, with the next set of matches scheduled to be played tomorrow at the Sugathadasa Stadium.
