View(s):My most favourite newspaper
My favorite newspaper is Funday Times. It has many interesting pages like the Competitions page, Earth Watch page, Kids World Page etc. I send answers for competition and some I win and some I don’t.
I send articles too. I take this paper every Sunday. It comes with the Sunday Times newspaper. I am a member of the Funday Times Club. I hope that all of you are also members. I love this newspaper. I thank the aunties and uncles who write this newspaper very much.

The world of sports
‘Olympics’ is one of the most popular events in the world. Its birthplace is in Greece and it started in 776BC, to honour Zeus the God of Olympus. The Olympic emblem comprises of five circles. The circles consist of Asia, America, Africa, Australia and Europe. The games are held once every four years. This year it was held in London. Many athletes participate in numerous events. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded to the winners respectively.
In the past, only men were allowed to participate, but in 1900, Charlotte Cooper became the first woman to win a medal in the Olympics. In 1948, Duncan White and in 2000 Susanthika Jayasinghe brought fame to Mother Sri Lanka.
The Olympics helps to build self esteem and leadership qualities in a person. It helps to pacify and bring together nations from around the world. As Arnold Schwarzenegger once said, “Strength doesn’t come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, it’s your strength.”
This is what the Olympics teach us.

The missing kitten
I hear a sudden cry of pain
Somewhere in my home
Of a kitten crying in pain
Who has gone to roam
But I cannot find the place
Calling out for aid
Wrinkling up his face
Making everything afraid
He is crying for aid again
I cannot find anywhere
And its crying again in pain
Calling in the frightened air
And I still cannot find the place
Frightening in the air
O dear….. O dear…..
I am still searching everywhere!
