TMC Wisdom Quiz 2012 -The ultimate quiz challenge … on 16th September
View(s):The TMC Wisdom Quiz, now in its seventh year, will be held on Sunday 16th September at the Grand Ballroom of the Galle Face Hotel, Colombo 03 from 3.00pm onwards.
37 teams have already registered, way ahead of the closing date, including a couple of new comers to the competition this year and that spells the success story of the event ever since it was started in September 2006.
The format of the quiz will be similar to what it has been over the years but 2012 being an ‘Olympic Year’ this year’s competition will have an additional round on Olympic Games making it 6 rounds in all – the other 5 rounds of questions being based on general knowledge, current affairs, sports & games, science & history/art/literature/entertainment.

The organisers have also decided to increase the prize money this year and the competition is tipped to be a hotly contested affair between and among Schools & Educational Institutions, Public & Mercantile Firms, Banks and Financial Institutions and teams formed by individuals. The winners will walk away with the prestigious TMC Wisdom Trophy and a cash award of Rs 100,000/=. The runners-up will receive Rs 50,000/= and a trophy. The 3rd 4th and 5th placed teams will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 30,000/=, Rs 25,000/= and Rs 20,000/= respectively and certificates of participation will be awarded to each and every member of all teams.
Ruwan Senanayake, a founder member of TMC and also Sri Lanka’s representative of the International Quizzing Association has been instrumental in setting the questions all these years maintaining a very good standard and also pioneered the concept of adding visuals and video clips as clues to make it more interesting to participants as well as to those in the audience who are there to witness this fabulous competition.
The Quiz has produced winners from all sectors- Royal & Dharmaraja among the schools, Brandix, Amba Research & Dialog from the mercantile sector, Seylan, HNB, PABC & People’s Bank in the banking sector and teams led by the famous names in the quizzing circles – Indika Jayasinghe, Mahesha Weerasinha, Poorna Molligoda and Vindana Ariyawansa winning the overall title over the years.

Partnered by ICTA and supported by Link Natural Products, CMI Sri Lanka Branch, IIHE & ICBT Campus, TMC Wisdom 2012 is bound to be another memorable event in Sri Lanka’s Quizzing circle this year too.
