Kandy HC judge issues notice on CP PSC, Education Ministry
Kandy High Court Judge Manilal Waidyatileke issued notice on the Chairman- Central Province Public Service Commission, S.B. Beddewela and other members of the Commission, the Chief Secretary- Central Provincial Council, Secretary- Central Province Education Ministry, and the Secretary- Central Province Public Service Commission, to appear in the High Court on October 15, 2012.
This was consequent to a petition submitted by 26 graduates who have been appointed to various schools in the Central Province, as Finance and Planning Associates. They are seeking a High Court order, that they be absorbed as teachers
Petitioners stated that they sat for the 2007 competitive examination for appointments as teachers, and had obtained high marks.
They allege that those with lesser marks in this examination, than the petitioners, have been appointed as teachers, while the petitioners have been appointed as Finance and Planning Associates. Petitioners went on to further allege that their duties in the schools, involve that of peons.
Senior Attorney-at-Law Chandrapala Weerasooriya instructed by Attorney R.M.C. Ekanayake, appeared for the petitioners.
