LRCA the new U-15 champs
View(s):LR Cricket Academy emerged the new under 15 champions when they defeated the defenders MCA Cricket Academy ‘Blues’ by 33 runs to win the under 15 final of the 7th edition of the Inter Academy Invitational Cricket Tournament played at the MCA grounds recently.
Winning the toss and taking first lease of the wicket, were tottering with seven wickets down and hardly many runs on the board. But a blood transfusion stand of 50 runs for the eighth wicket between Avisha Wilwalaarachchi (46) and Vishwas Chathuranga (16) brought their score to a match winning 168 before their last man was dismissed.
Chasing a target of 169 for victory, MCA Cricket Academy ‘Blues’ got off to a flying start with 17 runs coming on the board in the first two overs of their innings. But thereafter they lost their way with the LRCA bowlers dropping into a better length and some brilliant fielding and catching to fold up for 135 runs and give LRC Academy a 33 run win and the title.
