103 Top global qualifications; One free seminar
In a move to guide the young executives and school leavers on unlimited opportunities, a career guidance forum titled ‘103 Top Global Qualifications; One Free Seminar’ will be held on Saturday, September 22 at 9.00am at RCU Skills Center, Royal College, Colombo 07.
The free half-a-day seminar is organized by CICRA Holdings as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
“Most of the young executives and school leavers focus on obtaining a degree. But they are unaware that there are many professional qualifications that are available to them in Sri Lanka that will help them to outsmart others,” CICRA Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said.
“Even the parents interested in their children’s career path can attend this seminar. Since the seats are limited, participants are required to make a prior booking online at www.cicra.lk or by calling on 011-7209577,” Mr. Dayaratne said.
“This seminar will guide the participants on 103 professional qualifications offered by three globally recognized professional organisations,” he said.
The three organisations are Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), UK, International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants (EC-Council), USA and the Project Management Institute (PMI), USA.
CISI Vice President Brian Selvanayagam, EC-Council Certified Instructor Krishnan Rajagopal and PMI Colombo Chapter President Aruna Kooragamage will speak at this seminar.
CISI is the largest and most widely respected professional body for those who work in the financial, securities and investment industries in the UK and in a growing number of major financial centres round the world.
Evolved from the London Stock Exchange, CISI now has more than 40,000 members in 89 countries. In the past year, CISI set almost 40,000 examinations in over 70 countries including in Sri Lanka, covering a range of vocational qualifications.
Meanwhile, EC-Council is a member-based organization that certifies individuals in various information security and e-business skills and has trained over 120,000 individuals and certified more than 50,000 security professionals.
Many of these EC-Council certifications are recognized worldwide and have received endorsements from various government agencies including the US Federal Government via the Montgomery GI Bill, National Security Agency (NSA) and the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS). And the United States Department of Defense has included the CEH program into its Directive 8570, making it as one of the mandatory standards to be achieved by Computer Network Defenders Service Providers.
Meanwhile, PMI offers a comprehensive certification program for project practitioners of all education and skill levels.
As project management is one of the top skillsets demanded by organizations around the world, this is more important now than ever before. One-fifth of the world’s GDP, or more than US$12 trillion, is spent on projects. And with many skilled practitioners leaving or scheduled to leave the workforce due to retirement — a trend the Society of Human Resources (SHRM) identifies as having a major strategic impact for 64% of organizations worldwide — there is a great demand for knowledgeable project managers.
