‘Raaz 3’, a Bollywood horror movie depicting an actress, a fading star who employs black magic to regain her popularity is now being screened at Liberty cinema, Colombo.

Directed by Vikram Bhatt, and produced by Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt, the film is a sequel to Raaz – The Mystery Continues in 2009, which itself was a sequel to Raaz in 2002. The film stars Emraan Hashmi reprising his role of the second film, and Esha Gupta as a new addition to the cast. Bipasha Basu, who played in the first sequel makes a come back while Jacqueline Fernandez makes a special appearance in the film.

According to Bollywood news, the original choice for the female lead of ‘Raaz 3’ was Jacqueline Fernandez, but she had later dropped out due to not wanting to establish herself as a Bollywood sex symbol, as she was uncomfortable with the tag. Fernandez was later replaced with ‘Jannat 2’ debutant, Esha Gupta.

The story revolves around Maithli (Bipasha Basu), an actress at the height of her success. She gets offered the best roles and wins all the awards she’s nominated for. In addition, she also has a passionate affair with a handsome director named Aditya (Emraan Hashmi). All this ends when a younger actress, Sanjana (Esha Gupta) makes her film debut. Suddenly, Maithli seems forgotten and everybody only wants to work with Sanjana.

Soon enough, Aditya also leaves Maithli for Sanjana, and Maithli who sees her career fading away slowly becomes crazy. She begins to turn to black magic and makes it her goal in life to destroy Sanjana and get back the man she loves, Aditya.
