Meet the author of ‘A Complete Illustrated History of Sri Lanka’
View(s):An interactive evening on the journey of the people of Sri Lanka through time which will enable the public to ‘Meet the Author’ of ‘A Complete Illustrated History of Sri Lanka’, Dr. Anton Sebastian, will be held on Friday, September 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Palm Lounge of the Galle Face Hotel, Colombo.

London-based Dr. Sebastian, who has written this history book with a difference, has traced Sri Lanka’s history from the geological formation of the island and Stone-Age man to present times, the ethnicity from the aboriginal period and the earliest immigrants to the historic period while weaving in important events and the influence of the rest of the world.
Although a medical doctor, Dr. Sebastian is a serious writer with three other books to his credit – ‘A Dictionary of the History of Medicine’, ‘A Dictionary of the History of Science’ and ‘Dates in Medicine’.
A meticulous researcher, he has not been content to pore over the large collection of books, many 1st editions he has in his personal library or scout book fairs, bookshops and the internet for knowledge on Sri Lanka, but visited the land of his birth numerous times for seven long years, often neglecting his medical practice back in England, before coming out with this history book.
‘A Complete Illustrated History of Sri Lanka’, a 696-page hardback with 487 photos and illustrations, is printed as a coffee-table book by Vijitha Yapa Publications.
