American Creative Educationist Liz Doles joins AOD Design Campus
View(s):Sri Lanka’s International design campus AOD recently commenced its 2012/2013 academic year with several additions and improvements. Expanding its already impressive multicultural faculty of design experts, AOD recently invited the US creative educationist Liz Doles to join them as vice principal.
Liz is a summa cum laude graduate (highest honours) in Art History and Japanese Culture from the University of Massachusetts, Boston USA. Liz worked in the US as a commercial artist and went on to explore her talent in photography as well. Pursuing her interest in teaching and education Liz also started learning the art of educating creative minds at the Massachusetts College of Art where she studied Photography too.
Liz’s friendship with Sri Lanka began even before AOD invited her here. She visited the island with the prestigious Fulbright artist grant in photography and held an exhibition of her portraits of the island. Her most recent exhibition was held at the Sri Lankan Mission to UN, where a large gathering of diplomats and art enthusiasts admired her work along with the Sri Lankan representative for the UN, H.E. PalithaKohona who commended Liz’s vivid images of Sri Lankan architecture.
At AOD Liz also teaches Design Studies and Design Foundation in addition to her role as the vice principal.
With her unusual methods of photography using a laundry detergent box and expertise in creative education, Liz will undoubtedly be a major influence in encouraging AOD’s young designers to channel their creativity through unconventional media.
