‘Raassa Paraassa’, an experimental play based on Sri Lanka’s flak music and traditional dance made by dramatist Nissanka Diddeniya will be staged in Australia in September and October.

The play produced using country’s traditional dance, music and choreography and traditional events like ‘Kolam’ is to be shown on September 29 in Adelaide, October 7 at Melbourne and October 13 at Perth.

Orgasnised by art associations in the respective towns, ‘Rassa Parassa’ performances are organised by Sirimithuru Sangamaya in Melbourne and Sinhala Art Association in Sydney.

Jayalath Manoratne, Nissanka Diddeniya, Sriyantha Mendis, Rohana Beddage and Madhani Malwatte play the major roles while Sri Lankans in Australia join them to play the rest of the roles and rend voices for singing.

Rohana Beddage has handled the choreography and music while Heenatigala Premadasa has done the stage settings and costumes.
The funds from the shows are to be used to develop Sinhala schools and religious institutions of Sri Lankans.
