Roshan Fernando appointed new SSP Nugegoda Div.
View(s):Former Royal College athletic captain, Senior Superintendent of Police, Roshan Fernando will assume duties as the new SSP of Nugegoda Division from today.
SSP Fernando, who has completed three decades of service as a police officer, had been a versatile sportsman during his days, captaining Royal athletic team in 1979 with distinction to win the most prestigious Sir John Tarbet Championships while setting many public schools records.
He had the honour of joining the first batch of the elite Police Special Task Force. SSP Fernando, during his career as a dynamic police officer, has been commended by IGPs on seven occasions. SSP Fernando, who had special training in Israel, Japan and Singapore, made an active contribution during the battle against terrorism and was awarded Northern humanitarian operation medal for his services in Jaffna Division during the 2006-2009 battle against terrorism. Fernando, who joined Sri Lanka Police in 1982 as a sub inspector, is one of the youngest SSPs in the country.
