Heads roll at Sri Lanka Tourism
View(s):Sri Lanka Tourism has seen changes at the helm with most at the top moving out and new faces taking over. The latest has been the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority’s Head of Quality Standards, Licensing, Investment Legal and Special Projects Dileep Mudadeniya who resigned from the agency, and is taking up a position at the John Keells Holdings (JKH). In a statement on Monday, Mr. Mudadeniya said he would be assuming duties as Vice President-Brand Marketing at JKH, ending a 13-year long career with Sri Lanka Tourism which includes stints in overseas offices and Managing Director of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau. Speaking with the Business Times he considered himself “lucky enough to work in the turbulent times especially during the war” at the SLTDA. He pointed out that that learning would be useful in the private sector to move ahead. Mr. Mudadeniya also established a research body, which he believes is required to assist the SME sector to obtain professional advice based on researched data available in a more “simple format.” In another move, the SLTDA Chairman Dr. Nalaka Godahewa stepped down and his position was taken up by the present Sri Lanka Promotions Bureau Chairman Bhashwara Senaka Gunarathna, a media release issued by SLTDA stated. At present he is also working as a Director General, Development Forum Office of The Ministry of Economic Development, it also said. Since 2010 he has been a Board member of all the key institutions in Sri Lanka Tourism. In addition he is also a board member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Nano Technology (SLINTEC), the release said.
