Two top officials from Monash University, Australia in Colombo this week
View(s):Two senior officials from Australia’s famous Monash University will be in Colombo this week for a series of networking sessions including the popular ‘Parents Night’ where they will interact with the parents of students following the study programmes offered by Monash College, Sri Lanka in Colombo.
Dr. Faye Lambert, Director, Monash College Diplomas and Mrs. Anne Dwyer, Manager, Transition Specialist Support Group (TSSG) will be hosted at the Cinnamon Grand, Colombo on October 8thevening, where they will also brief prospective students on the wide ranging courses available for students who have completed their GCE Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations and are interested in pursuing an academic qualification which is recognised worldwide.
Monash University foundation year and Monash College Diploma programmes are currently offered in the country through Monash College Sri Lanka, which is conducted by one of the country’s leading higher educational institutes, ANC Education (ANC), who holds the licence from Monash University to conduct Monash College programmes in Sri Lanka.
Monash University has achieved an enviable national and international reputation for research and teaching excellence and was recently ranked in the top 1 per cent of world universities, coming in at the 117th position in the world.
Students who have completed their OL examinations, can commence the foundation programme in Business, Engineering, science, Arts and IT and subsequent to completing the foundation programme in Sri Lanka, they can transfer to Monash University in Australia or Malaysia and complete their degree programme.
Alternatively, students, who have completed their AL examinations, can commence the undergraduate programme in either engineering or business, and after completing one year in Sri Lanka, can transfer to Australia or Malaysia to complete the degree programme.
Since commencing the Monash College Sri Lanka programmes in 2006, approximately 500 students have transferred to Australia and Malaysia respectively, where they have completed their degree programme, after commencing it in Sri Lanka.
The courses offered in Sri Lanka via ANC Education is assured of high quality standards and the programmes in Sri Lanka are accredited and audited by Monash Australia.
Monash College Sri Lanka, since inception in 2006, has enjoyed an impressive pass rates and of 89% during the Year 2012.
At Monday’s networking session which is scheduled to be held from 6.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo both Dr. Lambert and Mrs. Dwyer, will brief students and their parents on the university’s future directions, its ranking in the world, and the recognition students command across the world as a Monash University qualified degree holder.

Dr. Lambert joined Monash College in June 2010. She has a Doctor of Philosophy (Educational Administration), Bachelor of Commerce, a Graduate Diploma of Evaluation and a Bachelor of Education. Dr. Lamberthas a diverse educational background, a passion for teaching and learning and experience in both the corporate and not-for-profit sectors.
She started her career in human resources and subsequently moved into teaching as a foundation member of a progressive school. As a Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne, she conducted a range of evaluation studies in educational settings. In her role as Senior Consultant at KPMG Management Consulting Group, she was involved in the design and delivery of challenging and innovative leadership and management development programmes for senior executives.
Mrs. Dwyer joined Monash College in August 2011. She has a Masters in Education and a Bachelor of Education. In her capacity as Manager, TSSG, she oversees initiatives that focus on improved learning opportunities and outcomes for members of the Diplomas community.
Mrs. Dwyerbrings a wealth of experience to this position, having taught students from kindergarten years through to university level. She has held a range of leadership positions in Kindergarten – Year 12 schools, including responsibility for Professional Learning, Curriculum and Assessment, Teaching and Learning, and Student Wellbeing which included overseeing the needs of international boarding students. Anne’s teaching background includes teaching English, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Music, and she is therefore aware of the issues faced by international students as they transition into a new learning environment.
