John Keells Holdings (JKH), firmly rooted in the country with its consumer retail marketing concept, is furthering another sector of this kind of marketing – ‘K Zone – shopping malls where along with Keells Supermarkets, other companies involved in retail marketing are offered places to do their retail marketing in a huge market place.

The third of its kind is being set up in Kapuwatte, Ja-Ela on the main Colombo- Katunayake road, spread over a five acre prime land or 140,000 square feet. If not the biggest mall in Sri Lanka, it would be certainly be the biggest in the country outside Colombo. The Ja-Ela K Zone is 2 ˝ times bigger than the Moratuwa one, retail marketers say.
A spokesperson for JKH said that Ja-Ela K Zone shopping mall would be ready by December this year adding that it was also aimed at attracting tourists as the Ja-Ela K Zone would have large star class food courts and would have other items that tourists are attracted to such as ornaments and handicraft.
The spokesperson said that another unique feature in this Mall would be the apportioning of large areas for children to play and or even for parties.
Surveys carried out by JKH, according to the spokesperson, have found that there is a large number of professionals and high end customers and this Mall is targeting them.
