‘Kandy Bash’ for a worthy cause
View(s):The recently concluded ‘Kandy Bash’ ‘Colours of Kandy’ consisting of a full day’s fun events was held on Saturday, 15 September 2012 at the CR & FC organized by the Hillwood College PPA Colombo Branch and Trinity College OBA, Colombo Branch. A mammoth 3,600 plus crowd consisting of past and present pupils, teachers, parents and friends of schools from Kandy attended in support of a truly worthy cause.
The organizers extended their heartfelt appreciation to the Governor of the Central Province who found the time to be present at the occassion. ‘Kandy Bash’ is an annual event and its prime objective is to foster friendly ties among all the past pupils of Kandy Schools while providing support through various welfare projects to present day needy students of Kandy, who come to Colombo for further studies. This year was unlike any other; numerous sponsors contributed generously towards this event, which made all the difference.
Usually the fun events consist of schools competing with each other. However, this year the organisers decided to deviate from the usual and instead had each competing team consist of a mixture of the schools. This proved not only exhilarating but gave an opportunity for students to strengthen their bond with members of other schools. The fun events served up much hilarity with a ‘dress up’ and skits, Queen and King of the night, Baila Competition which were most entertaining.
Younger children had their own designated area with fun and games specially organized by Ceylon Biscuits Limited. Also the night was aglow with a fireworks display by Alidon.
All this would not have been possible without the untiring efforts of the principals, staff and past pupils of all the schools.
The evening’s celebrations have also been captured on facebook, twitter and on the official website www.kandybash.com
