D Sounds of a Saxophone with Hector Dias
Hector Dias of ex Marians fame, is ready to bang his saxophone with his new outfit ‘D- Major’. ‘D- Major’, led by Hector Dias is the latest band to hit the Sri Lankan music scene, with a different concept. Hector Dias, his life’s passion for music that drives him to creating that romantic atmosphere with a touch of class, at dances, weddings and other gigs with is new trendy Band ‘D- Major’.
Why is the Saxaphone so special and specially with Hector Dias, the well known sri Lankan saxophonist? The sounds of the saxophone, add a glamorous touch the atmosphere, the ambiance with pure warmth.
‘The soothing and classy sounds of saxophone express emotions that we all at some point of our lives have felt. In listening to it, no words need to be spoken or sung. The energy, the words are in the music itself. It adds more punch to the song and creates a different touch to the music’ Hector added.
‘D- Major’ has six members who have come together as they all share the love for music. ‘We felt the need to share this special gift that we have, with others. There are two guitarists, a drummer, and one who livens up a wedding through instrumental music.
Setting the theme for any wedding, be it a church wedding, a poruwa wedding or a family only reception, ‘D- Major’ plays English, Sinhala and Baila songs, or simply meets the requirements of the host.’
“In setting the mood for a special celebration as a wedding, my 20 plus years of experience as a saxophonist, helps me elegantly direct the event through the precious moments such as the first dance and the father daughter dance. While blending those moments between nakath time or small events, so that the guests do not feel the time go by, making it a smooth experience.”
‘D- Major’ has already booked for most of the major function in the city during the festive season.
