Wide-ranging topics at Vaccine Forum annual symposium
View(s):The Vaccine Forum of Sri Lanka will hold their third Annual Symposium on Vaccines for doctors on October 21 from 8.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the main auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine , Kynsey Road, Colombo.
The programme highlights will be ‘Eradication of Polio: Current status’ by Prof. Jacob John, Emeritus Professor of Paediatrics, Christian Medical College , Vellore, India; ‘Pre-exposure rabies vaccination’ by Prof. B.J. Mahendra, Madya Institute of Medical Science, India, ‘Influenza: Vaccination in high risk groups’ by Prof. Randeep Guleria, Dept. of Pulmonary Medicine & Sleep Disorders, New Delhi, India; Current epidemiology by Prof.Jennifer Perera, Senior Professor of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine , University of Colombo, ‘Local epidemiology and challenges of influenza’ by Dr. Paba Palihawadena, Chief Epidemiologist, Ministry of Health; ‘New development in dengue vaccine’ by Dr. Neelika Malavige, Immunologist and Senior Lecturer, University of Sri Jayewardenapura; ‘Vaccines and international travel’ by Dr. Omala Wimalaratne, Consultant Virologist and Vaccinologist, Medical Research Institute, Colombo; ‘Epidemiology of enteric fever and usefulness of current vaccines’ by Dr.Enoka Corea, Senior Lecturer, Dept. of Microbiology, Colombo Medicine Faculty; and ‘Vaccination of the immune-compromised host’ by Dr. Rajeeva de Silva, Consultant immunologist, Medical Research Institute, Colombo.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and tickets may be obtained from the Sri Lanka Medical Association Library, Wijerama Road, Colombo 7 or from the registration desk on the day of the event.
