Citadel agent’s folly
View(s):Citadel agent’s folly
The Big Man had told his Citadel agent to call him when Sri Lanka was on the verge of winning a key final. The agent thought it was a good time to call him and promptly gave him a buzz. The Big Man turned up at the game only to see his side lose the battle. Agitatedly he asked this agent why he was asked to come. Earlier the Big Man was reluctant to come to the game as he thought his presence at previous finals did not bring success to the team.
Left in the cold
All of us are proud of the ’96 World Cup squad. However at a recent big cricket bash some of these players were not given invitations to watch the game and they had to buy tickets which were in a B Grade Section at the Stadium. Surely sportsmen/sportswomen who had brought credit and honour to the country deserve better treatment.
What no tickets!
There was a heck of a battle to obtain tickets for the recent cricket final. However a leading International School had no trouble in obtaining tickets as the daughter of a top official in the sport was attending this particular school and she kept on handing the priceless tickets at random to all her friends. What a blessing it must have been to cricket lovers of this particular school.
Survival of the richest
The dream of any schoolboy is to make a tour abroad and they work hard to achieve this. But when they are asked to cough out Rs. 70,000 each to make a tour the parents have to find the money and they run to the nearest pawn shop with their jewellery in order raise the funds needed for this tour. Schoolchildren specially are not supposed to pay any money for tours but without the authorities knowing anything on this, business is thriving. This happened to a team which took wing to a Middle East country recently. As usual those who managed to raise the money would embark on the tour but it was certainly not the best. What we wonder is what are the authorities concerned doing about this. Are they turning a blind eye to these activities?
Lady Bug at it again
Talk centers on a white van which the Lady Bug wanted released. She says that she wanted the van to send some tee shirts binoculars and cricket souvenirs back to the organizers. The fact these items were originally intended to be distributed among the scribes who covered the event.
Upholding the law?
A top rugby team has appointed a muscle man as the trainer of their team. This guy has been banned from the sport and the controlling body too is not in favour of having him as the coach. The team concerned belongs to a body which upholds the law. Is it correct of them to employ such a man?
