Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is of the view that they have acted within the law regarding the allegations that are leveled against the SLPL.
Regarding the news that part of the revelations made by India TV on their programme on the sting operation that exposed the umpires also claimed evidence on how SLPL’s managing partner, Somerset Entertainment Ventures (SEV) chairman, Sandeep Bhammer was involved in shady sponsorship negotiations with the under-cover reporters who carried out the sting.

However Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Cricket Ajit Jayasekera refuted all such allegations. He said “The moment it occurred he reported the matter to the SLC in detail and in return the SLC handed over the matters to the Anti Corruption Security Unit of the ICC on August 15 and they took over the matter for investigation. Bhammer besides being a partner of SEV was also a franchise owner so they had all the right to go ahead with their deal.”

When asked about the recorded tape that was handed over to Sri Lanka Cricket which contained conversations about match fixing Jayasekera said “That case is being investigated by Lakshman de Silva who is the head of the Local Anti Corruption Unit and he is still conducting investigations. We are aware that he has interviewed several persons in this regard”.

However the ICC’s Head of Media and Communications Colin Gibson’s answer to the ICC’s implications to was “I don’t see the ICC implication. This is a domestic competition run by a domestic board.”
