Young table tennis player Dewmith Weerasena of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda is proving to be a force to be reckoned with for the future following a successful school season.
Besides securing titles at the Under 10 age groups of the All Island International Schools Championship, the Chrys Guneratne Memorial Open All Island Ranking Championship and the Ashok Mottoomull Melvani Memorial Open Ranking tournament, Dewmith also emerged a semifinalist in the Under 12 age category of the All Island Ranking Table Tennis tournament.
These results have catapulted him to the top of the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka’s Under 10 ranking table, while in the Under 12 group he has broken into the top ten.
Table Tennis officials in the country tip the youngster to go very far in the sport in the coming years.
