Tyronne wins in Stuttgart, Germany

The 23rd Mercedes Trophy World Final was held in Stuttgart, Germany from 15th to 17th September 2012 with the awards ceremony held at the Mercedes-Benz Museum.

Tyronne Weerakkody represented Sri Lanka in the East Asian team together with Leonides Latayan (Philippines) and Chin Chee Keong (Malaysia). Tyronne had the 2nd best stableford points of the tournament on the 1st day which was 44 points.

At the Finals 40 countries comprising of 33 teams from around the world took part, with three players in each team. Countries such as USA, UK, Australia, France, Germany, India, Korea, China and Japan participated as individual countries and few teams participated comprising 3 countries. This year’s winner of the Nations Cup is the team from East Asia, with a points total of 195. In second place was the team from the United Kingdom with 193 points, followed by the team from the Netherlands with 191 points.
