A good reason to run
View(s):Organiser of ‘Run for their lives’ aim to raise Rs 1.4 million for cancer sufferers ‘Run For Their Lives’, a charity fundraiser run in aid of those suffering from cancer will be held for the third consecutive year on December 9.
The previous runs were held in 2010 and 2011 and the latter saw a participation of over 600 people, raising a total of Rs. 1 million which was donated in the form of medicine to the Maharagama Cancer Hospital. A participation of about 800 people is expected this year, with a fundraising target of Rs 1.4 million. T-shirts, food and drink will be provided to contestants before and after the run. Also expect an exciting fun fair, with lots of activities and entertainment for the young and old alike.
Run For Their Lives 2012, organised by The Rotaract Club of Colombo Uptown will be held at 8 a.m.
The 5km route will see crowds run through Independence Avenue, Reid Avenue, Thurston Road, Cambridge Place, Albert Crescent, Horton Place, Maitland Crescent to Maitland Place and back again to Independence Avenue.
