SriLankan Airlines retain swimming Championship
View(s):The 28th Men’s and Women’s Swimming Championships 2012, sponsored by Akquasun Lanka, for the second successive year was conducted at the Thurstan College Pool recently. Altogether 12 teams participated in a programme of 54 events.
SriLankan Airlines retained the team championship, followed by Cinnamon Lakeside, Cinnamon Grand, the combined team from Walkers Tours and Whittalls Travels, and Mermaid Hotel and Club, Kalutara
In the Novices Men’s category Asitha Jayawardene from Walkers/Whittalls and U.L.A.R.D. Perera from Cinnamon Grand were declared as joint winners. The best in the Novices Women was Stephanie Fernando from Walkers/Whittalls. V.S. Warnapura from Jetwing Travels and U.A.D. Jayasekera from SriLankan Airlines were declared joint winners in Championship Men’s category while in the Women category Indika Dissanayake from Cinnamon Lakeside was declared as the best swimmer.
In the Veterans Men’s category P.S.P. Dayananda and S.M.N. Kumara, both from SriLankan Airlines emerged as the best and were declared joint winners. Soraya Hassan from SriLankan Airlines emerged as the best swimmer in the Veterans Women’s category.
Awards were presented by Director of Akquasun Lanka, Mr. and Mrs. Chaminda Dias, Ishan Thirimanne the manager of Akquasun/Luxe Asia and Dushy Jayaweera and Palitha Mendis of Travel Trade Sports Club.
