History and Objective
In 1957, the Glenside Lions Club from U.S. state of Pennsylvania sponsored the world’s first Leo club the – Abington High School Leo Club with 35 students. A decade later, the Lions Club International (LCI) Board of directors adopted the Leo Club Program as an official program of the association.
The objective of the Leo Club Program is “…to provide the youth of the world with an opportunity for development and contribution, individually and collectively, as responsible members of the local, national and international community”.
Leo club members around the world fulfil this objective every day. Leo club activities and projects enhance the community and help young people develop and practise leadership, organization and social skills. Leo club involvement can instil in young people a lifetime commitment to helping others.
