A top female athlete who is now history has been given the okay to attend a seminar in Malaysia. She however decided to skip the event for no reason. Those in the know say that she gave the seminar a miss because it is being conducted in English and she knows very little of the Queens language and she will be completely out of her depth.

It is a well known fact that those who are in a committee to decide as to who should be officiating at certain games cannot in any way be involved in officiating at matches. This is regarding a top sport where Sri Lanka ended up second recently in an international competition. This official however has his own way and has been seen officiating at certain games. What is more he goes around saying, ‘It is we who do the promotions and the demotions.’

A combined schools team visited Kuala Lumpur recently and the coach is alleged to have been supplying girls to the players of the team. This coach is from a reputed Hill Country establishment.

All at sea
An under 19 team toured Iran recently and got whacked 0-17 to the ultimate winners. The team had five lads from one school. Followers of the game are wondering how such a team got approval from the authorities concerned to make the tour. Those who selected the team are also from the same establishment and so they had selected those whom they wanted to go on tour. Even those governing the sport are at sea about the tour.
Over to Taipei
A veteran’s team is currently in Taipei to take part in a competition. There are 210 athletes in the squad and a further 30 have gone as observers. So far no noteworthy performances have been produced and the chances are that no worthwhile performances will ever be produced. Who could be giving the green light for such tours?

They keep bragging about the turn-about of the finances at the citadel. They even say that they would end with a huge surplus. They say that the players also have been settled.
But the money man at the Citadel has warned that if the Bank does not fall in line with the matters and they want their pound of flesh, the Citadel would be begging again by the first quarter of next year.
Which is the correct name?
Tickets for matches in Pallekelle have two faces. One ticket says PALLEKELLA and the other has been printed as PALLEKELE (which is the correct one). The first one when sounded in Sinhala means the bottom piece. Those who noticed the changes in the ground have been having fits of laughter. Surely those who are concerned with the printing of tickets should see that the names of venues are printed correctly, at least.
