Transfer and Graduation ceremony 2012 of the American College of Higher Education
View(s):The American College of Higher education (ACHE) is the only education institute in Sri Lanka which offers American style education and American degrees approved by a US accreditation body.
ACHE had its 18th Annual Transfer and Graduation ceremony at Cinnamon Grand hotel on the 04th of November. Chief Guest Mr. Christopher Teal, Director – Press, Cultural & Educational Affairs, Guest of Honor Ms. Premila Paulraj – assistant vice president -India sub continent, Edexcel ltd.. Mr. Suriya Bibile – regional development manager-Sri Lanka, Maldives & Pakistan, Dr. David Moore – Associate Vice President of Broward College USA, Mr. Scott Masson, District Director for International Education – Broward College USA. Dr. Pedro Oliveira, coordinator for Sri Lanka, India, International Education Broward College USA, Prof. Audry Hunter, faculty coordinator, Mrs. Sherryn Yaseen Mangalagama CEO American College, Mr. Suresh yaseen Director Operations American College.Prof. B.L. Panditharathne Director of Studies ACHE, and Dr. Mohan Abeyrathna- Academic Dean of the ACHE, Mr. R.H.M. Piyasena Registrar of the ACHE graced this occasion. Large Number of parents, Students, members of staff from all the branches of American college of Higher Education and well wishers were present in this solemn occasion.
ACHE students were conferred degrees of B.S. in Management of Human Resources Management, Associate in Arts and Associate in Business degrees in addition to 50 students who had completed minimum of 45 credits have are eligible to transfer to some high ranking US universities such as University of Wyoming , Texas Christian University , Washington state University, Truman state University, and Oklahoma State University also received their transcripts & certificates from the Chief Guest. Dr. David Moore, Dr. Pedro Oliveira, Dr. Audry Hunter & Mr. Scott Maison who officiated in giving away awards and certificates.
Speaking at the Occasion Mr. Christopher Teal stated that United States the top most Global provider of higher education which is more than 3200 universities over the past several decades been able to attract more than one million students per year from countries all over the world and Sri Lanka has been one of them. A large number of Sri Lankan students are presently studying at US universities at different levels. This is due to rewarding and comprehensive array of study options available which couple with quality education provided by US universities and colleges. He also stated that this numbers to increase in years to come.
Presently, the opportunities for admission to State universities and also the preferred faculties of study are extremely limited and competitive in Sri Lanka. However, now there is fresh hope for students, to get internationally recognized American Degrees of their choice by reading for the total degree in Sri Lanka or Partly in Sri Lanka and U.S.A.
Collaboration of ACHE and Broward College, USA over the past 17 years ACHE has been collaborating with Broward College, Florida, USA, in delivering US style higher Education in Sri Lanka. In recognition to this US accrediting commission on Colleges, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) has approved the American College of Higher Education (ACHE) as the International Centre of the Broward College. This New approval status of the ACHE is a significant milestone of its extensive service becoming the first Sri Lankan Higher Education institute ever approved by an US accrediting agency. This new accreditation status was achieved as a result of over 05 years of rigorous checking monitoring updating of the quality of the ACHE’s study programmes and the quality of its lecturers.
Entertainment items presented by the students of the Colombo, Kandy, Negombo, & American international School added much glamour to this occasion. Graduation and transfer ceremony followed by dinner and Graduation Ball.
