Horizon College International hosts Cricket Carnival

Horizon College International added to the many outstanding events it has staged over its 3-year history with a Cricket Carnival, held on October 20 at the BRC grounds, which saw the participation of more than 2000 students, staff and parents.

Decorated tents that dotted the perimeter of the grounds, flags (national and school), banners, balloons and decorations all lent to the fun atmosphere.

The six-a-side cricket matches, that featured 30 male and 24 female teams, kick off the event with the perfect blend of camaraderie and competition with six matches being played.

A host of other activities such as face painting and kids’ game also took place. The objective of having a Cricket Carnival was to give all the parents an opportunity to get to know each other since parents, considering their own busy lifestyles and schedules, hardly have the time to interact with each other. Through the event, parents got together to form their respective teams, class-wise, to challenge teams from other classes while the staff formed their own teams and got into the fray with the hope of winning one of the trophies on offer.

At the end the day, the male parents of Year 1E, the Super Six team, emerged champions of that category to take the trophy while the Runners-up were the Horizon College Management team. In the Ladies’ category, the Millennium Stars, comprising the Kindergarten teachers, went on to become winners and receive the trophy while the runners up were the Spirit Team, comprising mothers of Year 5.
The overall success of the day however should be attributed to the entire team at Horizon College International that worked hard to make the event a reality.

The event’s success has called for it to be an annual event in Horizon College International’s calendar of events.
