Kavinda Manamperi cracked an unbeaten ton as he along with Jude Madushan, who made a 97, helped De Mazenod take major honours against St. Joseph’s at Kandana yesterday.

De Mazenod resuming from their overnight score of 112 for 3 went on to make a formidable 291 for 8 declared with the fourth wicket pair of Manamperi and Madushan putting on an impressive stand of 151 runs.

St. Joseph’s in their turn ended the day making 117 for 3 with Dylan Fernandopulle making an unbeaten 66.

The match between St. Peter’s and Nalanda concluded at Bambalapitiya yesterday too ended in a draw with Nalanda resuming on their overnight score of 12 for 3, despite a knock of 57 by Pramuk Hettiwatte, being restricted to 144. This was in reply to the home team’s score of 173. St. Peter’s batting the second time ended the day on 113 for 2 with Shasheen Fernando making an unbeaten 63.

Right arm pacie Suchintha Karunaratne’s four wicket haul enabled D.S. Senanayake to dominate their drawn match against Trinity which concluded at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona. DSS resuming on their overnight score of 197 for 7 ended their innings by making a modest 223 with overnight batsman Binura Fernando, who was unbeaten on 46, making a top score of 52. Trinity who was in a bad way with their score on 45 for 3 for at the lunch break, recovered to make 189 thanks to a knock of 66 by Lakshitha Dasanayake. Suchintha ended with impressive figures of 4 for 41.
The match between Wesley and Ananda at Campbell Park was called off without a ball being bowled on day two. The first day too was effected by bad weather with Ananda batting first making 89 for 2 from the 34 overs of play which was possible for the day.
