Sunday Times Biz Club discusses ‘impeachment’ issues

The Sunday Times Business Club (STBC) is joining the growing debate over the impeachment of Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake with its own panel discussion on these issues on Thursday, November 29.

In a discussion titled “Impeachment: Conflict between the Judiciary and the Executive”, Presidents’ Counsel Dr Jayampathy Wickramaratne will be joined by V.T. Thamilmaran, Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo in explaining to members of the club the pros and cons of the impeachment move.

The panel discussion is being held at this month’s meeting of the club at 7 pm at the Taj Samudra Hotel, the host hotel. The club is sponsored by Etisalat and co-sponsored by Hameedia. Dr. Wickramaratne is also Director at the Institute of Constitutional Studies, Sri Lanka and a former Senior Advisor in the Ministry of Constitutional Affairs while Mr. Thamilmaran, in addition to being an Attorney –at-Law, specialises in teaching Human Rights and Constitutional Law among other topics.
