Annual Prize Day, “Diri Daru Abhinada-2012″
Annual Prize Day, “Diri Daru Abhinada-2012“ of Bandarawela Central College (BMMV) was held on 23rd of October,2012 from 9.30am onwards at the College Auditorium with the distinguished patronage of Prof.Mahinda S. Rupasinghe, University of Sabaragamuwa as the honourable Chief Guest of this memorable event. Mr.L.L.Anil Wijesiri, the Secretary, Ministry of Education, Uva, Mr.R.M.P.Rathnayake, Provincial Director of Uva Education Department, Mr.R.M.Jayasekara, Director of Bandarawela Zonal Education Department and the principals of neighbouring schools invited as special guests.
The programme was organized by Mr. Lesley Pathirana, the English Section Head and the committee members of the college with the help of all the academic and non-academic staff. 391 students emerged Subject prize, Class prize, the best performers at G.C.E.(O/L) and G.C.E.(A/L) examinations 2010, best performers of grade 5 scholarship examination and the best performers of extracurricular activities were awarded with medals.
The Principal of B.M.M.V. Mr.M.M.Wimalasekara stated “College prize giving always motivates the students to perform well in the up-coming examinations and they are very keen in each point of their marks which brings the teachers to be more accurate in their marking. I would like to thank the Chief Minister of Uva Province, The director and the staff of Uva Education Department , OBA, parents and well-wishers for their huge support to make this event success”
The noteworthy feature of Bandarawela Central College is the present educational triumph. They were elected as the Best school in the district for their G.C.E. O/L and A/L results and chosen among the ten schools in the island for the performance of the G.C.E.(O/L) results, 2011. Moreover they emerged the district first place in the Competition of Best School with Clean & Green Environment.
