Two brothers hailing from China Fort, Beruwela which is famous for the gem trade in Sri Lanka have qualified as doctors. Dr. Ashiq Jabir, MBBS, MSc (Surgery), Queen Mary University of London and Dr. Shehab Jabir, MBBS, BSc (Orthopedics), University College of London, currently studying for the final part of the MRCS, completed their primary education at Asian International School and higher education at Elizabeth Moir International School.

The brothers are sons of Ansar Jabir and Mrs. Fathima Jabir. The Jabir family are well known gem merchants.
