SLIM wins two prestigious global awards
View(s):Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) has bagged two prestigious awards at the annual Global Awards for Brand Excellence conducted by the World Brand Congress. One is the “Brand Excellence in Service Industry Award”, and the other the “Overall Brand Leadership Award.”
The awards ceremony was held at prestigious Taj Lands End Hotel, Mumbai where SLIM secretary, Dhanesh R Jayathilaka accepted the two awards on behalf of SLIM.
“These awards confirm the excellent work being carried out by SLIM which is the national body for marketing in Sri Lanka. This is a testament to the tremendous efforts of the passionate and dynamic team of people at SLIM who work tirelessly towards the upliftment of the marketing fraternity and the marketing profession in Sri Lanka” said SLIM President Tilan Wijeyesekera. “Moreover being recognised at the World Brand Congress brings pride to Sri Lanka and our marketers as it signifies the great deal of talent and potential available in our country to develop truly world class brands and organizations. The World Brand Congress honours the world’s branding & marketing elite at the Global Awards for Brand Excellence. Outstanding professionals and brains from some of the world’s biggest brands & most influential marketing organizations converge under one roof for this prestigious event. The gala award ceremony also recognises the brands which have made a significant achievement in Performance, Image & Perception, and Loyalty and have reached the stage of becoming synonymous with the relevant product or service category.
These awards are a true recognition of the value adding work being done by SLIM for the Nations marketers. The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing is the National Body of Marketing which has a mandate for uplifting the marketing fraternity in Sri Lanka and thereby adding value to the economy and our nation. SLIM has numerous objectives to achieve in any given year which include, improving the standard of marketing in Sri Lanka, proliferating the knowledge of Marketing, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of marketers, recognizing and motivating marketers being some of them. These awards recognise and acknowledge the efforts of SLIM to achieve the set objectives. SLIM also won its first ever international award when earlier in the year SLIM won the award for the “Most Admired events for Branding & Marketing”, at the annual Asian Business Leadership Awards 2012.
As the national institute of marketing in Sri Lanka, SLIM has been promoting marketing excellence and elevating the status of marketing in the country since 1970. Incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1980, SLIM is a member of the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka and of ESOMAR, the Federation of Marketing Research Industries. It is also a member of the Asia Marketing Federation, which is affiliated to the World Marketing Association.
