Ashwini wins silver at Sports Festival

M.D. Tharuka Ashwini, the athletic captain of Sacred Heart Convent Galle won a silver medal at the recently concluded National Schools Sports Festival 2012. Ashwini represented her school in the girls’ Under-19 triple jump event and secured a silver medal after her prolific performances at the Southern Province Sports Festival where she won gold medals in the Under-19 triple jump and 100 metres hurdles events. She is also the captain of the school Under-19 netball team and led her team to the championship at the Southern Province Netball Championships held recently. Ashwini also represented Sri Lanka in the international netball competition held in Australia last year.
