Gateway College establishes 7 new meet reords and wins 3 age group championsships
View(s):The Gateway College swimming squad consisting of 54 swimmers placed fourth out of nineteen schools at the annual Inter-International Swimming Championship organized by Asian International School held on the 10th and 11th of November.
Gateway College established 7 New Meet Records and won 3 Age Group Championships:
Alvin Arulmaran was placed 1st in the 50m Breaststroke/ 50m Backstroke/ 50 M Freestyle, in Under 10 boy’s category setting New Meet Records at each event, also winning the Age Group Championship award for under 10 Boy’s..
Araliya Gunasekara was placed 1st in the 50m Freestyle/200m Individual Medley / 100m Freestyle, for under 10 Girl’s, setting a new meet record, and also winning the Age Group Championship award for Girl’s under 10.
Hiruni De Zoisa was placed 1st in the 200M Individual Medley / 50m Brest Stroke / 100m Butterfly, for Under 16 girl’s setting New Meet Records.
Harini Silva was placed 1st in the 100m Freestyle/50m Butterfly (New Meet Record)/ 200m Freestyle (New Meet Record) and also winning the Age Group Championship award for Girl’s under 16.
The Under 16 girls relay team was placed 1st in the 50m Medley Relay and set a new meet record, the team consisted of Harini De Silva, Maenu Bodinagoda, Ranmali Jayasinghe and Hiruni De Soysa.
Gateway College achieved total points of 690, with 27 swimmers placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the events.
The team was coached by Sagara Sampath, Udara Weerakoon and Manjula . The swimming team was captained by Sukith Caldera.
