“Amalian” does Mother Lanka proud
View(s):Deputy Head Prefect 2011/2012 Master JC Umar Azwer of Amal International School, Colombo 6 won the world Best Speakers Award at JCI world conference held Taipei Taiwan on the 22nd of November 2012. Where the 60 countries participated. He has brought credit not only to his school, but also risen the Sri Lankan Flag very high once again.
In 2011 Umar Azwer was in the team of six Amalians who brought glory to Sri Lanka. These Amalians secured second place in a world prestigious award at the Think Quest Global Competition sponsored by Oracle Education Foundation. Umar and his teammates were in San Francisco United States of America for the Prize Giving for their show of excellence by their winning entry on ‘Child Labour’
In June 2012 Umar Azwer was victorious at the Best Speakers Competition held during the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Asia Pacific (ASPAC) regional conference held in Hong Kong. There were eleven contestants from Australia, India, Hongkong, Philippines, Bangladash, Mongolia and South Korea. Umar was the sole representative of the (ASPAC) region for this world award. He is the son of Mr. Mohideen Mohamed Azwer and Fathima Nuzha of Dehiwala.
All Amalians his teachers past & present are proud of his achievements and wish him many more success in the future too.
