Clarence’ ‘Raa Tharakawo’ get a new mix
Popular young generation singer Yashan released his latest music video ‘Raa Tharakawo’, the remix version of Clarence Wijewardene’s hit song from the film ‘Suseema;.
Yashan released this remix song to all radio and web based music sites last week. Yashan has become the youngest new generation singer to do a remix version of a song created by Sri Lanakan Pop king Clarence Wijewardene.
TV Times spoke to Yashan on his latest achievement.
Yashan, Can u tell some more detail about your version of ‘Raa Tharakawo’?
New music arrangements of the song were done by Udara Fernando. Actually we didnt try any changes on vocals, lyrics or the arrangements of the song as we wanted to keep the original feeling of the song. Only thing we changed a bit was music, which we tried out a new style called ‘DANCE POP’. It’s a dance-oriented pop music that originated in the early 1980s. Developing from post-disco and synth pop, it is generally up-tempo music intended for clubs with the intention of being dance-able but also suitable for contemporary hit radio.
What are the characteristics of Dance pop music?
Dance-pop generally contains several notable characteristics, which are listed here: Uptempo, upbeat music intended for clubs, with a dance-able or dance nature, Catchy songs with an easy, pop-based structure, a strong emphasis on beats and grooves, prominent hooks, simple lyrics and polished productions
Why did you want to do a REMAKE? Is it Because the trend?
No. I was never famous for doing remakes. This was a respectful invitation I received by my sound engineer, Udara Fernando and my record label M Entertainment. They have thought that the style of this song would suit me and full credits to them for believing in my talent. Since I found out that they have taken the appropriate rights as well and I didn’t see any wrong in trying this out. It was really amazing how the recordings of this song went ‘cos we took only two takes I think and it took only about only 30 minutes to record the full song.
What’s your plan behind ‘Raa Tharakawo’ music video?
Its not a story type deep video, as the original version of this we wanted to do an energetic live performance video and I’m more than happy about the outcome. Didn’t try any experiments as I didn’t want to destroy the image of the original song.
