Graduating from high school can be both an exhilarating as well as terrifying experience. Exhilarating because you are finally out of restrictive environs of a school and a world of opportunities opens up before you. But this proposition could also be a terrifying one, as most students are clueless about the choices they should make.
Courses
Over past many years, it has become a common practice for the students graduating out of schools to opt for courses that lead to either engineering or medicine. But it is important for a student to identify their inherent capabilities and pursue their dreams, HR Consultant and academician, S. Abhimanyu Acharya, said.
He was speaking at a seminar ‘Opportunities for Non-Engineering and Non-Medical Courses’ conducted by The Hindu Education Plus in association with Roots Education Group. Tenth class students from more than 10 schools participated in the event.
“Most students think of engineering and medicine, but there are many opportunities available for those looking beyond these two options,” Dr. Acharya said to a packed conference hall that was rapt with attention. Explaining different avenues that a student can pursue once he is out of high school, he pointed out that other career choices too are equally well paid and can give immense satisfaction. Options like government services, teaching, allied medical services, farming, graphic designing, sports, movie production and Armed Forces are equally important for the society and can prove to be equally lucrative, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Roots Education Group’s Operating Dean, Monisha Anand, enumerated various courses offered by the group. Later, Dr. Acharya and Ms. Anand fielded questions from eager beavers about options in various fields.-thehindu.com
