Savour new tastes at Lemon

The cool breeze and the peaceful ambience that greet you as you get to the roof-top is invitation enough to come taste the new flavours at the Lemon restaurant, but one bite into one of Celebrity Chef Koluu’s new additions and you realise it’s simply all about the great food.

Lemon, having already a repertoire of culinary delights, aspires to deliver a new experience to guests with six new dishes making an entrance this season.

“Dining is all about being comfortable and to a certain extent keeping things simple. We’ve made the new additions keeping in mind that customers come to Lemon seeking comfort in our unique flavours,” says Koluu, mentioning that additions will only add more zest to their already extensive menu. “Our flavours are very well received by the Sri Lankan palate,” he adds.

Koluu has always put his creativity to best use in the kitchen. The scrumptious beef cutlets, which he addresses as Mus Kutlis is one such creation. The new Chicken Korma dish – tender pieces of chicken simmered gently in delectable spices and served with rice, Grilled Chicken Lemon Style – Fillet of Chicken stuffed with Feta Cheese and Spinach, Shanghai Seafood Noodles – Crispy noodles topped with ocean fresh seafood, Mediterranean baked fish – Fillet of Modha finished in the oven with a combination of Parmesan and the creamy mushroom pancakes – a combination of assorted mushrooms wrapped in herb pancakes are all worthy additions to the Lemon menu.

The Grilled Chicken Lemon style is what we pick and with the creamy cheese oozing its way around the fillet, tangled with the fresh tinge of spinach, it’s a winner. The Mediterranean Baked Fish special stands out too- both traditional dishes that have been zapped with the Lemon effect.

For dessert, from the conventional cheesecake, there’s an intriguing Ginger and Mocha Meringue and Pavlova for the daring.

“The restaurant also has to maintain the value-for-money concept. “We are not overly pricey here, but at the same time we are not downright cheap. As with the right seasoning in cooking, a balance is struck with our pricing too,” Koluu says.

The new menu additions are in tandem with the refurbishment that will take place as it gets ready for Christmas, says Lemon Director Dinesh Wijesinghe, adding that they will always stay faithful to their regular customers with exciting dishes along the way. An ice cream made purely of Christmas cake ingredients, is something to look out for this Christmas, he adds.
