Kushal guides Colts to fourth win
A swashbuckling 155 by Kushal Janith helped Colts to secure a 73 runs win on the D/L method against Panadura SC and record their
fourth successive win in as many matches in the Premier limited over encounter played at the Panadura Esplanade yesterday.
Kushal’s knock which came in just 116 balls comprised 19 hits to the ropes and two sixes saw Colts who were sent into bat by Panadura SC skipper Chamara Silva amass 323 for 7.
Panadura SC in their turn were 155 for 6 having faced 29 overs when play was stopped due to bad weather. The target during the stoppage of 29 overs was 229 runs.
Army inflicted the first defeat on table leaders Ragama CC whom they defeated by 22 runs on the D/L method at Panagoda. Army chasing 205 runs for victory was on 121 for 3 in 29 overs when play was stopped due to bad light.
Andy Solomons continued his batting when he cracked a quick-fire 61 ball knock of 73 inclusive of six boundaries and five towering sixes as he along with Hashan Goonetileke, who made an unbeaten 84 with eight boundaries, steered BRC to overcome Chilaw Marians by four wickets at the BRC ground.
Lankan CC pulled off a well deserving 30 runs win over Bloomfield at Reid Avenue. The foundation for the win was laid by Dilhan Cooray and Oshada Fernando who together added 109 runs for the fifth wicket helping the side to make a formidable 256.
An unbroken 150 runs stand for the fourth wicket between Rumesh Buddika who made 70 and skipper Sachithra Serasinghe who chipped in with 68 enabled Tamil Union to pull off a convincing seven wicket win over Moors at P. Sara Stadium.
Badureliya CC registered a 50 runs win on the D/L method over Saracens SC at the Royal ground. Badureliya CC batting first made 200 while Saracens SC in their run chase were 141 for 9 when play was stopped due to bad light.
Air Force overcame Galle CC by 51 runs at Galle. Half tons by Rajitha Ratnayake, Achira Eranga and skipper Raju Gayashan saw Air Force taking first lease of the wicket make 277 for 7. Galle CC in their turn was able to score 226.
The match between NCC and Sri Lanka Ports Authority at Braybrooke Place ended in a 57 runs win on the D/L method for NCC. SLPA batting first made 196 while NCC having faced 39 overs were 196 for 5 with the required target at stoppage being 140 runs.The match between CCC and Kurunegala YCC at the Welagedera Stadium in Kurunegala which got off to a late start was hampered by rain in the second session and ended in a no decision.
