Manju out from the cold in style
The star attraction at the 87th National Boxing Championships currently being held at the Linea Boxing Centre in Pallekele, Manju
Wanniarachchi, resuming his boxing career after a break of two years, was able to easily outpoint his opponent Airman Dinesha Bandara.
Wanniarachchi carried far too many guns for his opponent. His much anticipated scrap with the young challenger R. Jayaweera is scheduled for Tuesday, final day. 108 men and 44 women are vying for honours at this year’s nationals.
The standard of boxing on the opening day was not impressive. However it is bound to improve when the big guns take to the roped square.
