Two apparel sector giants will clash in the men’s and women’s segments of the Mercantile Volleyball Tournament 2012, at the Youth Services Indoor Stadium in Maharagama today.

The highlight of the day’s proceedings will be the men’s final which will be an interesting clash between trade rivals MAS Active Contourline Kandy vs Brandix Intimate Apparel Welisara which will begin at 3.00pm.

Prior to the main clash at 1.00pm the women’s final will be played between MAS Casualline Mawathagama and Brandix Casualware Redigama.

Prior to both decisive clashes two third place playoffs are scheduled to be played. The men’s playoff game will be between Textured Jersey Lanka and Sunithra Hasalaka Sports Club while MAS Linea Aqua Kapugoda will take on Brandix Intimate Apparel in the women’s playoff.

The Mercantile Volleyball Association (MVA) which organises the tournament annually said that it is pleased with the encouraging number of entries which were 44 from men’s and 21 from women’s segments. Most of the teams entered the tournament were from the textile industry with the organisers allowing any number of teams from a single organization. – NA
