Lanka IOC recently rewarded top achievers of its ‘English for Young Learners’ project at the China Bay Nalanda Maha Vidyalaya and the China Bay Tamil Vidyalayam in Trincomalee.

“This project is part of our wide-ranging CSR initiatives in Sri Lanka. Whichever country they belong to, children are a national treasure and a nation’s hope for the future. It is with this in mind that we always endeavour to engage and educate school children in different ways under our CSR initiatives,” said Lanka IOC PLC’s Managing Director Subodh Dakwale.

A total of 140 students from Grades 6 – 11, both boys and girls, followed the 9-month project which comprised 54 hours of spoken and written course work. This ongoing project provides facilities for rural school children to learn the English language as a systematic means of communication. It is being progressively done both by the use of sounds and conventional methods, to help them become effective and confident speakers of English as they grow older.
